It’d be really nice if somehow IMFA could be privy to all the world’s research, mail exchanges and publications concerning the families Mx. Of course, that’s never gonna happen. But there are places, such as on-line social networks like Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, etc., where this data is available to the public. As it happens, there are a number of Facebook pages dedicated to variants of the Mx surname. While I don’t subscribe to all of them, I do follow and participate in four of them: our IMFA page of course, as well as: Mullenix, Mullanix, Mullinax and other misspellings; Molyneux Family Genealogy; and Mx Wigan & Hawkley.

To ensure that some potentially valuable data isn’t lost to our membership, I’ve extracted all of the more interesting queries posted so far in 2013 and created a pastiche, which follows below:

There are several groups on Facebook that provide an opportunity to connect with other Mx researchers. BTW: Our own UK006 Clive Molyneux, is the primary mover and shaker behind many of these Facebook pages. Some of these include:

  • Molyneux Family Genealogy (includes all spelling variations) If your last name is Molyneux, or have links with the family, then you have something in common! Your last name! This is a Genealogy (or Family History) Group for this Surname and all spelling variations, including; Molineux, Molineaux, Molyneaux, Mollyneux, Mollineux, Mollineaux and Mollyneaux. The main aim, of the genealogical research group, is for members to exchange family information and to help each other in their researches into this Family (along with the various spellings of the name). If you have information, or names you would like information on, this is your opportunity to find out if anyone else can help you trace your ancestry. This Group relies on members, new and old, to share their lineages, their stories, their photos of the people and places that make up their family history.

  • Mullenix, Mullanix, Mullinax, Mullinex and other misspellings If your last name is Mullenix, Mullinax, Mullinix, Mullinex, Mullnix, or have links with the family, then you have somet hing in common! Your last name! Make new friends and meet new people who share the same surname. There is already a Molyneux group, but most people are in the U.K. Hopefully, this group will attract more North American cousins and people with more dramatic variations than Molyneux-Molyneaux.
